Srishti – Creation – Schöpfung
[layerslider id=“5″]
From September 26th to October 10th 2017 we are happy to welcome the school orchestra of SBA with 32 musicians with their composer and arranger at Akademie der Kulturen NRW in Germany.
SRISHTI was founded in 2016 in a historically first-time cooperation between an Indian school and a German educational institution, the Sarala Birla Academy (SBA) from Bangalore and the Akademie der Kulturen NRW, whose artist in Residence, Dinesh Mishra / Kalashray Forum, initiiated the project. Premiere and first performances were presented in Germany and the Netherlands.
The 50-headed international orchestra plus composer and arranger consists of young Indian musicians, as well as teachers and students of the Akademie der Kulturen NRW and other German universities. The young musicians realized the performance in a novel, fascinating fusion.
SRISHTI. Creation – Schöpfung is a fusion of sounds that resonates both in nature and the universe. Music stimulates the human mind, the inner world and the body – essential to inspire the human spirit. In the recent past, the growing popularity of electronic music and synthesized, digital sounds has surrounded a generation of listeners in such a way that it lost its way of enjoying the sounds of nature.
In the Sarala Birla Academy, the Department of Performing Arts has explored the unique nature of music by combining sounds from nature with the ancient Hindustani Ragas and contemporary world music.
The composers Dr. K.K. Mishra and Rohin Gabriel Joseph succeeded in the experimental fusion of eastern and western sound worlds. They created a unique fusion of Indian and Western music with classical elements and natural sounds – the symphony SRISHTI.
The mixture of the unmistakable nature of these old ragas with the sound colors of Indian and Western music makes SRISHTI a fascinating experience. The performance aims to rediscover the origins of the universe and explore the unique role of sound in the world – „Nada Brahma“ – the power of sound in the process of creation – SRISHTI.
