The Quartet “Kaleidoskop” builds a wide musical range. Starting out from modern jazz, contrabassist Alex Morsey, percussionist Fethi Ak, guitarist Christian Hammer and saxophonist Dimitrij Markintantov move with their music along the direction of East and South-East of Europe extending to the Middle East.

Alex Morsey and Christian Hammer have been playing together for a couple of years in different band projects starting with the organ band “Know what I mean?” and “The Dorf”.

Fethi Ak counts as one of the best darbuka players in Germany and is in the Turkish music scene a live and studio musician in great demand.

Dimitrij Markintantov met with the three musicians as he was standing in briefly for a sick accordionist in two performances. The Kiev-born saxophonist combines the melodic elements of the Balkans with modern jazz saxophone and a wonderful sound on alto- and soprano saxophone.

What developed immediately from this meeting was a personal and musical understanding which inspired a continued collaboration of the participants. On the program are original compositions as well as arrangements of classics from jazz and world music.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
